Performance of the new SLICC classification criteria in juvenile systemic lupus erythematosus, in two observation periods: a Brazilian study

چکیده
Introduction The most widely used classification criteria for systemic lupus erythematous (SLE) are those derived and validated in adult patients, by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR). However, some of their limitations raise concerns, such as: inclusion of the most typical features only, possible duplication of highly correlated cutaneous manifestations, omission of many neurologic manifestations, inadequate quantification of urine protein by dipstick, lack of standardization for autoantibodies detection and, classification as SLE for patients that do not satisfy the immunologic disorder criterion. Alternative methods for SLE classification have been developed, such as the SLICC (Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics) criteria.

The diagnosis of juvenile systemic lupus erythematosus with SLICC
Objectives SLE is called the great mimicker, as the disease shares characteristics with many other (autoimmune) diseases. Especially when the classic malar rash is absent, diagnosing SLE can be a challenge. Most patients who are diagnosed with juvenil SLE fulfill 4 or more of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) classification criteria for SLE. The Systemic Lupus International Collaborati...

Background: Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS) can either occur as a primary syndrome or associated with other autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Anticardiolipin antibody (aCL) of IgG and/or IgM isotype in blood, measured by a standardized ELISA is the most acceptable laboratory criteria. APS IgG isotype, particularly IgG2 subclass is more strongly associated ...

AIM To determine the prevalence of American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics (SLICC) classification criteria among systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients; to determine disease activity and severity; and to investigate the correlation of classification criteria with disease activity, and of disease activity and damage index with disease du...

Introduction Significant differences in disease onset and course have been described in adults and children with SLE. Making a diagnosis of JSLE is complex. The United Kingdom JSLE Cohort Study[1] collects demographic and prospective clinical data on patients fulfilling the ACR classification criteria for SLE ≤18 years of age and those with probable evolving disease from time of diagnosis onwar...

OBJECTIVE The most widely used classification criteria for SLE are those derived and validated in adult patients by the ACR. Alternatives include the Boston weighted (BW) and SLICC criteria. The aim of this study was to compare the performance of BW and SLICC criteria with the 1997 ACR criteria in a JSLE cohort. METHODS Cases were JSLE patients and controls were patients with other rheumatic ...
